Bucknell Men's Water Polo Opens Season with 11-9 Loss to Cal-Baptist at Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Bucknell men's water polo team got the 2003 season started with an 11-9 loss to Cal Baptist in the first game of the Navy Labor Day Invitational on Saturday, September 6.
Bucknell fell behind 4-2 after one quarter, and faced a 6-4 deficit at halftime. After the Lancers jumped out to a 9-6 lead in the third quarter, the Bison made a late charge in the final frame to make it a two-goal game.
Junior captain Aaron Platshon led the Orange and Blue offense, scoring three goals. Junior Nick Ferring added two scores, while junior Elliot Benoist scored once and assisted on two goals.
Sophomore goalkeeper Trevor Mullins made eight saves in the contest.
Bucknell is 0-1 and will face Queens (N.Y.) at 3:00 p.m.
