Lewisburg, Pa. - Kelly O'Brien (Rye, N.Y./Rye) was honored today by womensfieldhockey.com as an honorable mention for Division I Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 28. The website was the third honor O'Brien received this week, as she was also named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week as well as the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week, an honor handed out to one Bucknell athlete per week, across all sports.
O'Brien scored the opening goal at UMBC on Sept. 23, what turned out to be the game-winning goal in a 4-0 Bucknell victory. O'Brien then scored the first and third goals of the game, one of them the game-winner, in a 3-2 win over league foe Lafayette last Saturday.
The Bison are 6-1 for the first time since 1975 and are in the thick of the Patriot League race at 2-1 in conference play. They embark on a four-match road swing that begins on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Lehigh, another league opponent. The Bison will return home on Oct. 18 versus Georgetown.
