Bucknell Women's Soccer Suffers 6-0 Loss at #11 Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Bucknell women's soccer team trailed just 1-0 at halftime, but gave up five second half goals to the 11th ranked Lady Lions of Penn State in falling 6-0 on Wednesday, September 17. The Bison fall to 4-2 on the year with the loss.
It was scoreless soccer for the first 20 minutes of the contest. Joanna Lohman got Penn State on the board with 22:31 gone in the game, taking a pass from Ali Krieger. The score remained 1-0 entering the break.
Tiffany Weimer changed that just 1:14 into the second, giving the host team a 2-0 advantage.
With 62:11 gone in the game, the Lady Lions extended it to a 3-0 game when Brooke Mertz scored on a header off of a corner kick. Holly Lincoln set up the play.
With just under 20 minutes left in the game, Heather Tomko put the contest out of reach with her first goal of the season. Penn State went on to score two more goals in the next five minutes to take the wind out of BU's sails.
The Lady Lions defense did its job, holding the Bison without a shot or a corner kick. Penn State tallied 19 shots and 10 corners.
Bucknell is 4-2 overall. The Bison open Patriot League play on Saturday, September 20, hosting Colgate at 2:30 p.m. Penn State improves to 5-1-1.
