Bucknell Women's Soccer Picked Seventh in Patriot League Preseason Poll

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell tallied 30 points to finish seventh in a preseason poll of Patriot League coaches' and sports information directors' for the 2003 women's soccer season. The Bison finished the 2002 season at 6-9-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the Patriot League.
Navy totaled 88 points, including five first-place votes, to claim first place in the preseason poll. Army, which gained the top seed in the 2002 Patriot League Tournament with a 5-1-1 league record, captured six first-place votes and finished second in the poll with 83 points. The defending champion Eagles equaled Navy with five first-place votes and ranked third in the preseason poll with 80 points.
Colgate, which has played in the conference title match 12 times in 13 Patriot League seasons, gained 66 points and is expected to finish fourth in the regular season.
Rounding out the poll are Holy Cross (39 points), Lafayette (37), Bucknell (30) and Lehigh (22).

The winner of the 2003 Patriot League Women's Soccer Championship will be awarded with an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. The 2003 Patriot League Championship will be played November 7 and 9 at the highest seed following regular-season play.
