LEWISBURG, Pa. - The red-hot Bucknell men's lacrosse team continues to move up in the national rankings, and this week the Bison are listed in the top-20 in three different polls.
After extending its winning streak to five games with victories last week over 18th-ranked Villanova (7-6) and Patriot League rival Lafayette (12-5), Bucknell is ranked 15th in the Warrior/Inside Lacrosse media poll, which was announced Monday afternoon.
The Bison are also ranked tied for 17th in Monday's USILA coaches' poll and 18th in the Baltimore Sun poll.
Boasting one of the nation's top defenses (6.33 goals-against per game), Bucknell is currently enjoying its longest winning streak since 1996, when the team posted a perfect 12-0 record. The Bison have limited all but two opponents to seven goals or less, and they have a scintillating 4.29 goals-against average in their seven victories.
Bucknell, which has shared or won outright each of the last three Patriot League titles, faces a critical road test this Saturday at Army. The Bison (3-0) and Black Knights (2-0) are both unbeaten in conference play and were two of the preseason favorites in the PL. Bucknell, which has already beaten co-favorite Hobart, could move to the brink of another title and NCAA Tournament bid with a victory Saturday at West Point.
Saturday's game at Army will be broadcast on the Bison sports network - on the radio on WMLP 1380-AM, and on the web at www.BucknellBison.com.
