Bucknell Women's Tennis Drops 4-2 Decision to Colgate

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's tennis team waited out the rain, but to no avail as it dropped a 4-2 decision to visiting Colgate on a cold and wet Saturday afternoon. The Bison claimed the doubles point in the bout, but could manage only one singles win.
Sophomore Nadezda Curcic and freshman Veronica Brown teamed up to defeat Sheila Rao and Lauren Erikson at number one doubles, 8-4. Sophomore Tanya Sichko and freshman Rheanna Gaskin followed with a 9-8 (5) win over Marissa Alikpala and Emily Wenink at the second flight to secure the doubles point for Bucknell.
In singles play, Brown was BU's lone winner, defeating Erikson, 6-2, 6-1, at number two to improve to 10-2 at the second flight.
Sichko forced Jamie Maldow to three sets at the fourth flight, but eventually dropped a 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 match.
Bucknell falls to 10-2 overall and 1-1 in Patriot League action. The Orange and Blue host Towson on Sunday, April 6, at 1:00 p.m.
