Bucknell Women's Tennis Wins 7-0 Over Towson

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's tennis team got back on the winning side with a 7-0 victory over visiting Towson on Sunday, April 6. The Orange and Blue won every match in the event.
In doubles play, sophomore Nadezda Curcic and freshman Veronica Brown teamed up at number one to defeat Lindsay Brown and Sarah Dumansky, 8-3. Sophomore Tanya Sichko and senior Jill Wurzburg paired up at the second flight to beat Maria Skjorshammer and Stacey Pinatelli, 8-5.
With the doubles point secure, freshman Rheanna Gaskin and sophomore Samantha Berthod paired up for an 8-1 win over Jill Spiritus and Leigh Tomey.
In singles action, Curcic handled Lindsay Brown in a 6-3, 6-1 first flight match. Veronica Brown picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at the second singles bout. It took Wurzburg three sets at number three, but the senior came out on top of a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 decision.
Sichko, Gaskin and Berthod each won in straight sets at numbers four, five and six. Sichko defeated Skjorshammer 6-3, 6-3 at the fourth flight. Gaskin was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at number five against Pignatelli, and Berthod won 6-0, 6-1 against Tomey at the sixth flight.
Bucknell is 11-2 overall. The Bison host UMBC at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8.
