LEWISBURG, Pa. - After heading a strong Bucknell effort at both ends of the field in Saturday's Patriot League championship-clinching win over Lehigh, Bison senior attack Kelly Hogue (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning West H.S.) and senior goalie Justin Sussman (Towson, Md./Friends School) have been named the league's offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively.
Sussman earned the weekly defensive honor for the third time this season and fifth time in his career after stopping 13 shots, including a flurry of key saves early in the game that allowed the Bison to grab a quick 5-0 lead, in the 15-5 victory over Lehigh. Sussman allowed only four of the goals before leaving to a loud ovation with 2:30 remaining in regulation.
The terrific effort may have put the finishing touches on a brilliant career for the Orange & Blue. Sussman ranks third on Bucknell's all-time saves list 572 and is fourth in career save percentage at .628. In 2003, he ranks second nationally with a .664 save percentage, which is just .003 off the lead. He also lists fifth nationally in goals-against average at 6.88.

Hogue enjoyed one of the best games of his career Saturday at Lehigh, logging a personal-best seven points on five goals and two assists. He had a hand in four of Bucknell's first five goals as the Herd sprinted to that 5-0 lead, and after Lehigh cut that margin to 7-3 in the third period, Hogue scored twice in succession to put the game out of reach.
Hogue, who tied his career high with five goals, is fifth on the Bison in scoring with 19 points (14 goals, 5 assists). The offensive player of the week honor was the first of his career.
The Bison finished the 2003 regular season 9-4 overall and 5-1 in the Patriot League. Bucknell has gained at least a share of the league title for the fourth year in a row, however, Army can tie BU for first place with a victory over Lafayette on Tuesday. Should Army prevail, the Black Knights would claim the Patriot League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament based on their 10-9 victory over Bucknell on April 12.
