Bucknell's Kyle Walter Named Baseball Rookie of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's freshman outfielder, Kyle Walter (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) garnered Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors on Monday, April 21. The rookie assisted the first-place Bison to a series split with Army.
Walter went 8-for-17 on the week. The outfielder tagged his first colligate home run in the 6-4 win over Dusquesne, on Wednesday. He gained three RBI's on his first homer. Walter then belted a solo home run over the left field wall in the 2-1 victorious opener with Army. Walter plated a perfect 3-for-3 in game one with the Black Knights. The freshman outfield recorded two doubles on the week. Walter ended the week with five runs scored and five RBI's.
On the season, Walter is fourth on the team in batting with a .326 average. He is tied for second on the team with 17 RBI's. The freshman has started in 27 of the 31 games played.
Bucknell owns a 20-11 overall record and are positioned a top the Patriot League standings with an 11-5 record. The Orange and Blue are only one game above second-place Navy.
The Bison will play Penn State at University Park, Pa., on Tuesday, April 22. The single game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. Bucknell will then host Towson for a single game on Wednesday, April 23, at 3:30 p.m. The Orange and Blue will host their final regular season league four-game series against Lafayette on April 26-27.
