
Bison Women's Tennis Loses Close One at Binghamton, 4-3

VESTAL, N.Y. - The Bucknell women's tennis team lost for just the third time this spring, dropping a 4-3 decision at Binghamton on Saturday. The match was BU's second of the day after defeating Vermont 5-2 earlier in the afternoon.
The Bison were rolling in doubles play, sweeping the Bearcats for the doubles point. Sophomore Nadezda Curcic and freshman Veronica Brown opened play with an 8-3 win over Alexis Brill and Justina Hakimi at number one.
Sophomore Tanya Sichko and freshman Chelsea Mills were also victorious at number two, defeating Janine Sadaka and Amy Weissberg, 8-5, before junior Samantha Berthod and freshman Rheanna Gaskin teamed up to beat Kristin Jobe and Amy Linda, 8-5, at the third flight.
In singles play, Sichko was a 7-6 (3), 5-7, 6-3 winner at number three for Bucknell's second point. Berthod gave the Orange and Blue three points with her 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win over Linda at the fifth flight. Both Brown and Gaskin were hard luck losers at two and four, respectively, dropping their matches in three sets.
Bucknell falls to 13-3 overall. The Bison will play again on Tuesday, April 15, at 4:00 p.m. when they host Bloomsburg.
