VILLANOVA, Pa. - Sophomore Katie Hartigan scored three goals, and classmate Cody Keffer tallied twice, but it was not enough for the Bucknell women's water polo team as it fell to George Washington, 8-7, on Saturday, March 29. The contest was the first of the weekend at the second set of Southern Division League Games at Villanova.
The Orange and Blue fell into a 3-1 hole after one quarter, before coming back to make it a 5-4 game at halftime. Both teams scored twice in the third, and once in the fourth for the 8-7 final. The Bison never led in the game, playing catch-up the whole time.
In addition to Hartigan and Keffer, senior Katie Stahler and sophomore Meg Blitzer provided goals for Bucknell. Freshman Kaitlin Bardoe led the team with two assists.
Defensively, Blitzer and freshman Laura Meitzner collected a team-high four steals each. Senior Lindsay Chesterfield made eight saves in net for BU.
