Bucknell Men's Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision to Visiting Lafayette

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Gerald DiChiara was Bucknell's lone singles winner, as the BU men's tennis team lost a 6-1 match to visiting Lafayette on Thursday, March 27. The Leopards claimed all three doubles matches on the way to victory.
In a match that came down to the final four singles bouts, Lafayette outlasted the Bison, winning three of them.
DiChiara, Bucknell's lone winner on the day, won his first set at number five 6-4 before falling 6-2 in the second. The sophomore secured the point with a 6-1 victory in the third set.
Two of BU's other singles bouts went to three sets. Freshman Asher Salam defeated Brett Warren 7-5 in the first set at number three. After losing a tough second set, 7-6 (9-7), the rookie dropped a 10-2 super tie breaker for the loss.
Sophomore Joe Menezes also took Ryan Collins to three sets at number four, losing 6-3 in the first, responding with a 6-0 win in the second and finally falling 6-2 in the third.
Bucknell falls to 1-10 overall and 0-1 in the Patriot League. The Bison are in action next on Saturday, heading to Navy for a 12:00 p.m. match against the Mids.
