
Bucknell Women's Water Polo Drops 12-9 Decision at Cal Baptist

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Cal Baptist broke open a 9-9 tie in the fourth quarter to go on to a 12-9 victory over the Bucknell women's water polo team on Thursday, March 13, 2003. The game was the first of five for the Bison on their West Coast swing during spring break.
CBU's Holly Curran scored five of the Lancers' first six goals as Cal Baptist took a 3-0 lead after one quarter, and a 6-4 advantage by halftime. The Orange and Blue came back strong in the second half, scoring four of the first five goals and taking an 8-7 lead on junior Kelly Hofstetter's tally with 6:33 left to play in the game.
The Lancers responded with a goal from Kristie Rose and Curran's sixth score to take a 9-8 lead. The Bison, however, tied the game at 9-9 on sophomore Cody Keffer's third goal of the game with 1:56 to play.
Bucknell could not hold off Cal Baptist, though, and the host team notched what would prove to be the game winning goal 29 seconds later, before adding two more insurance goals in the game's final 32 seconds.
The Bison fall to 4-5 overall, while Cal Baptist improves to 4-5. Bucknell will compete in the Lancer Invitational this weekend, hosted by Cal Baptist. The Orange and Blue face Bakersfield in their first game on Friday, March 14, at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
