
Women's Water Polo Drops 9-7 Decision to Pomona-Pitzer

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The Bucknell women's water polo team dropped the first game of the Lancer Invitational, hosted by Cal Baptist, on Friday, March 14, 2003. The Bison fell to Pomona-Pitzer, the second ranked team in the country in Division III, 9-7.
BU trailed by one after the first quarter, before coming back to take a 6-5 lead at halftime. Pomona-Pitzer's defense took the Orange and Blue out of the game in the third, holding the Bison without a score to take a 7-6 lead after three. The Sagehens outscored Bucknell 2-1 in the final frame to come away with the two-goal victory.
Sophomore Eileen Ketterer led BU's offense with two goals, while senior Katie Stahler was the set-up man with three assists.
Senior Lindsay Chesterfield stopped 10 shots on goal.
Bucknell falls to 4-6 overall. The Bison face Bakersfield in the second game of the day at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Pomona-Pitzer improves to 2-3 overall.
