Bucknell Women's Tennis Keeps Rolling with 7-0 Win Over Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Bucknell women's tennis team improved to 4-0 this spring with a convincing 7-0 win over Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne in the second match of the day on Thursday, March 13, 2003. The Bison won all six singles matches and all three doubles matches.
In singles play, senior Jill Wurzburg moved up from the fourth flight to take on Jill Carie at number three, winning 6-2, 6-1. Both sophomore Tanya Sichko and freshman Veronica Brown dropped only one game in their respective matches. Sichko defeated Michelle Humphrey 6-0, 6-1 at the fourth spot, while Brown picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Stephanie Blaney at number two.
The Orange and Blue swept the doubles point. BU got an 8-2 win at the first flight from Brown and sophomore Nadezda Curcic. Sichko and freshman Rheanna Gaskin followed with an 8-4 decision at number two, and Wurzburg and junior Samantha Berthod teamed up for an 8-4 win at the third flight.
Bucknell is 4-0 and will face the University of Evansville in its final match in Hilton Head on Friday, March 14, at 8:00 a.m.
