Bison Swimming and Diving Capture Two Weekly Awards

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's sophomore diver, Adam Freeman (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) has received the Patriot League Men's Diver of the Week award for the fifth time on Tuesday, Feb. 4, while senior Darby Golino (Milford, Conn./Our Lady of Academy) was honored the Female Swimming award for the second time. The Bison men grabbed a 157-143 league win over Lehigh on Saturday and the women finish a perfect 7-0 season with a 215-85 win.
Freeman received gold in both the diving events during the meet against the Mountain Hawks. The sophomore set a new school record in the one-meter dive with a score of 291.22, almost 95 points better than second place Dave Edelstein of Lehigh. Freeman earned 260.92 points in the three-meter competition, and now stands seventh on Bucknell's all-time charts.
Golino earned four first place medals for the Bison on Saturday. The senior assisted the 200 medley relay team to a record breaking first place finish with a time of 1:47.28. Golino also received the gold in the 100 backstroke (58.27) and in the 200 backstroke (2:05.11). She also captured the last individual gold for the Bison with a 2:09.76 mark in the 200 individual medley.
Freeman was also named Bull Run Inn Bison Athlete of the week award for the week ending on Feb. 2.
Bucknell is the host site for the 2003 Patriot League Championships, which are scheduled for Feb. 20-22. Trials will begin at 10:30 a.m. and finals will start at 6 p.m. each day.
