
Bison Women's Water Polo Defeats Harvard, 10-9, in Come-From-Behind Fashion

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Bucknell women's water polo team picked up its first win of the 2003 season with a come-from-behind 10-9 victory over Harvard in the first game of the Brown Invitational. The Bison trailed the Crimson, recently ranked 19th in the nation, 9-8 entering the fourth quarter.
Harvard jumped out to a 4-2 lead after one quarter, and held a 7-6 advantage at the intermission. After both teams tallied twice in the third frame, the Orange and Blue defense took control, holding the Crimson scoreless in the final quarter to come away with the 10-9 victory.
Sophomores Larissa Brown and Katie Hartigan, and freshman Jennifer Meitzner led the way with two goals each, while sophomores Cody Keffer and Eileen Ketterer, and freshman Laura Meitzner each recorded two assists.
The Bison squad recorded 14 steals, led by three each from Hartigan and freshman Kaitlin Bardoe. Keffer was the team-leader in ejections drawn with three.
Senior Lindsey Chesterfield registered five saves in the contest, while allowing nine goals.
Bucknell improves to 1-2 on the year. The Bison are in action next on Sunday, February 22, when they take on #17 Brown at 11 a.m.
