Bison Men Leap from Fourth to Second on Day Two of PL Indoor Championships

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Bucknell men's indoor track and field added 29 points on day two of the Patriot League Championships to jump from fourth to second, below the Black Knights of Army. The Bison closed Saturday's events with 40 points.
Junior Noel Powell captured gold in the long jump with a leap of 24'5.5", while setting a new meet record. Emory Strother was runner-up in the high jump with a leap of 6'5", and also finished fourth in the long jump (22'3").
Bryan Johnston crossed the finish line at 14:56.25 for a fifth place finish in the 5,000-meter run. Daniel Lounsbury followed behind finishing at 15:06.97 (8th).
With a time of 22.31 in the preliminary round of the 200-meter dash, Powell will advance to the finals tomorrow. He placed second behind Lafayette's Machel Morrison. BU's Ryan Newberger will also advance to the finals after finishing with a time of 22.61. Richard Alexander's time of 7.74 was good enough to place first in the 55-meter high hurdles preliminaries and advance to the finals on Sunday.
The three-day Men's Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championship will wrap up Sunday, Feb. 23.
