
Bison Men's Swimming and Diving Stand On Top After Day Two

LEWISBURG, Pa. - After day two of the Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships, the Bison men stand on top with 451 points and are just one more strong day away from their first-ever PL title. Bucknell holds the top slot over Lehigh, 2002 defending champions, by 34.5 points.
Second-place Lehigh stands only 10 points above third-place American, while Army (354), Colgate (250), Lafayette (228) and Holy Cross (142) conclude the team scoring.
The Orange and Blue started the second night off with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay. Mark Kretzer, Michael Guskey, Peter Garvin and Michael Willats received silver medals with a time of 1:32.00.
In the championship finals of the 100 breaststroke, Orange and Blue caps were all over the pool, as Bison swimmers occupied five of the eight lanes. Guskey's time of 55.76 earned a second-place award. Stephen Schwanhausser (56.66) placed fourth, while Stelios Saffos (57.49), William Schilling (58.05) and Geoffrey Konopka (58.59) earned sixth through eighth.
Christopher Feinthel's 52.09 placed fourth in the 100 backstroke. The Bucknell 800 freestyle relay team captured the final points for day two. Todd Bauer, Kretzer, Matt Hallowell and Kurt McCoy earned a fifth place finish with a time of 6:59.24.
Other Friday winners include American's 200 medley relay team, which included Mike Lawson, Dominick Szabo, Stephen Maher and Mark Liscinsky finishing with a time of 1:31.83 to break the meet record.
American's Ethan Bassett captured a first place finish in the 400 IM (3:57.82), while other winners included Colgate's James Hadley in the 100 butterfly (50.47), Liscinsky in the 200 free (1:36.75), American's Szabo in the 100 breaststroke (54.89) and Mike Lawson in the 100 backstroke (50.95). American's 800 free relay team also earned a first place mark with a time of 6:46.58.
Bucknell will return to the pool, Saturday, Feb. 22 at 10:30 a.m. for the last day of trials, while the finals will begin at 6 p.m. in Kinney Natatorium.
