Bucknell Women's Basketball Sweeps Weekly Patriot League Awards

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Desire Almind (Blairstown, N.J./North Warren Regional) and freshman Lindsey Hollobaugh (Loganton, Pa./Central Mountain) have swept the Patriot League weekly women's basketball awards, announced by the conference office on Monday, December 8. Almind was named the Patriot League Player of the Week, while Hollobaugh garnered Freshman of the Week honors.
Almind captures Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career after earning a spot on the Cornell Classic All-Tournament team. The 6-0 guard/forward had the best week of her career, averaging 24.3 points, 15.0 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per contest. Almind had the hot hand in BU's 100-77 loss to Bowling Green, connecting on her first nine shots on her way to a 14-of-16 night from the floor and a career-high 33 points. She also grabbed 16 caroms and registered a career-best four blocks in the game against the Falcons.
In a 68-62 opening round loss to Cornell at the Cornell Classic, Almind led all players with 18 points and 13 rebounds. In her final game of the week, she recorded her fifth-straight double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds in a 69-61 consolation round win over Winthrop.
For the year, Almind is leading the league in both scoring (20.0 ppg) and rebounding (13.7 rpg), while also tallying a conference-best 16 blocks, just four shy of her career-high.

Hollobaugh wins the Freshman of the Week award for the second-straight week after averaging 15.0 ppg and 4.0 caroms each night out. The rookie opened the week with a 13 point, five rebound, four assist night in the loss to Bowling Green.
The 5-9 guard continued her consistent play, connecting on 7-of-13 shots en route to 16 points against the Big Red in the first round of the Cornell Classic. In the final game of the week, Hollobaugh again posted 16 points, while also pulling in four rebounds and grabbing three steals in Bucknell's win over Winthrop.
Hollobaugh has scored in double-figures in every game of her career, and is second on the team in scoring with 15.7 ppg. She is also the squad's second-leading rebounder with 5.3 caroms per game.
Bucknell is 2-4 overall. The Bison are in the midst of a 12-day layoff for finals before returning to action on Friday, December 19, when they host Akron at 5:00 p.m.
