LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell sophomore women's soccer player Kerry Fitz-Patrick (Washington, D.C./Stone Ridge Country Day) has been named to the 2003-04 Academic All-District II University Division Women's Soccer Second Team, announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Fitz-Patrick, one of only two sophomores selected to either team, becomes the second Bucknell player in as many years to earn a spot on the all-district team. 2003 graduate Lauren Schwarz was a member of the District II First-Team a year ago.
A starter in 14 of 16 games this season, Fitz-Patrick had a breakout year for the Bison. Active in only nine games a year ago, the midfielder recorded her first career points in 2003. Fitz-Patrick got on the board with her first career assist in Bucknell's 2-1 overtime win against Robert Morris. After recording another helper in BU's 3-0 victory over Howard, she finally found the back of the net for the first time in her career against Lehigh.
Fitz-Patrick's first career score came on Bucknell's only shot of the game, but it was enough for a 1-0 Bison victory. She went on to score in three-straight games, all on BU's first shot and all wins for the Orange and Blue. Her fourth goal of the season was the equalizer in a 1-1 tie with Patriot League rival Holy Cross.
For the season, Fitz-Patrick tallied four goals and two assists, good enough for 10 points, second on the team. Her four scores also tied for second on the squad.
In the classroom, Fitz-Patrick has quickly made a name for herself, achieving a 3.75 grade point average through two semesters. She is a member of the University's Dean's List, as well as the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
