LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell head women's basketball coach Kathy Fedorjaka has announced the signing of Kristina Collymore, a 5'4" guard from Montclair, N.J. Collymore recently signed the National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Bison beginning with the 2004-05 season.
"Kristina is a dynamic player and personality both on and off the court," commented Fedorjaka. "She brings tremendous energy to the guard position, a trait which is critical in that role. She is skilled in the open court system, and brings a wealth of offensive weapons to the court with her scoring, penetrating and creating shots for herself and others. Kristina is also solid on the defensive side of the ball and will fit well into what we do on both ends of the floor."
Collymore, gearing up for her senior season at Montclair High School, has amassed 1,169 points entering her final year. The past two seasons, Collymore has averaged 19.0 points per game while leading her team to a combined 35-13 record. In her first three seasons of varsity basketball, she has averaged 6.3 assists per game, while also proving herself a menace on the defensive end with 530 career steals (7.3 spg).
A three-time Northern New Jersey Interscholastic League (NNJIL) first-team all-league selection, Collymore has also appeared on the All-Essex County team three-straight years. In 2001, she was a member of the AAU/YBOA National Championship Team, garnering Tournament Most Valuable Player honors at the same time.
"We are very excited about acquiring Kristina," added Fedorjaka. "She is a magnetic player with an impressive resume who will add immediately to the Bison basketball program."
