LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Bucknell men's cross country team finished eighth at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet this morning on the campus of Lock Haven University. Wes Reinhardt paced the Bison, finishing 30th overall with a time of 31:23.
Bucknell's other scoring runners were Greg Costello (32nd, 31:27), Aaron Hanlon (53rd, 31:54), Matt Forys (55th, 31:57), and Sean McCarthy (56th, 31:58). Dan Lounsbury (64th, 32:06) and Doug Creveling (100th, 33:06) also ran for the Bison.
Bucknell served as the host institution of the meet, as Villanova and Georgetown finished first and second, respectively, earning bids to the NCAA Championship race on Nov. 24 in Waterloo, Iowa. The individuals guaranteeing themselves spots in Iowa were Dan Mazzocco of Penn State, Andre Laboy of St. Joseph's, Ryan Sheehan of St. Francis (Pa.), and Tristan Colangelo of Princeton. Should the athlete's team earn an at-large bid to the national meet, the next individual whose team did not earn a bid will qualify for the national meet.
Mazzocco was the race's individual champion, finishing the 10K course in 30:26. Villanova had the next two finishers, in Jonathan Fasulo (30:30), Ryan Hayden (30:35). Laboy finished fourth in 30:35, while Georgetown's Fleet Hower (30:50) and Chris Lukezic (30:51), Villanova's Milos Mitric (30:53), Colangelo of Princeton (30:53), and Matthew Seymour of American (30:53) rounded out the top 10.
Behind Villanova (55) and Georgetown (57) in the team scoring were Princeton (91), American (95), Penn State (187), Navy (210), LaSalle (222), Bucknell (226), St. Francis (Pa.) (253), and Penn (259) rounding out the top 10.
The Bison will close the year by sending runners to the IC4A meet in the Bronx, N.Y. next Saturday.
