LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Orange & Blue harriers had a final tune-up at the Bucknell Open last Friday before the Patriot League Championships and the Bison runners dominated the competition. The conference voters took notice and ordained the Bison with both weekly awards, as announced Tuesday by the league office. Mason Barlow landed Patriot League Runner of the Week and Michael Yardis earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week. It is the first weekly award for both runners.Â
Barlow, a senior, has enjoyed a strong finale season. The veteran runner continued his strong stretch by finishing second in the 4k loop race. He clocked 12:19.80 and led the Bison contingent that finished 2-12.Â
"Mason ran a very controlled 4k race and saved some energy for next week," head coach Kevin Donner said.Â
Yardis has adapted well to the rigorous demands of collegiate cross country. The rookie ran the 8k course at the Bucknell Open and finished third, registering 27:18.50.Â
"He is starting to get used to the 8k distance since he is only a freshman and he has a nice future for this program," Donner said.Â
Bucknell hosts the Patriot League Championships on Saturday. The men's race begins at noon after the women's competition starts at 11 a.m.Â
