ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Bucknell women's soccer team's season came to an end with a 4-0 loss at Navy on Saturday, November 1. The Bison entered the contest needing at least a victory to maintain an opportunity to qualify for the Patriot League Tournament.
The Midshipmen wasted little time getting on the board when Molly Burd scored unassisted just 9:09 into the contest. Navy made it 2-0 before halftime with a Maggie Curran goal at the 25:47 mark. Claire Henry and Stacy Finley were credited with the assists on the play.
The Orange and Blue held off the Mids for the first 25 minutes of the second half before the potent offense struck again on an Amelia Sheveland goal 71:41 into the game. Finley added her second assist of the game, and Curran also got credit for the helper.
Just five minutes later, Curran struck again, assisted by Burd and Finley, to secure the 4-0 victory.
Navy held a 9-6 advantage in shots, while Bucknell led 3-2 in corner kicks.
Bison goalkeeper Samantha Hecht made three saves. Navy's Kim Bonafede did not have to face a Bucknell shot as each of BU's six attempts were off the mark.
The Orange and Blue end the season at 7-6-3 overall and 2-3-2 in conference play. Navy improves to 15-3-1 overall and 6-1-0 in Patriot League action.
