HAMILTON, N.Y. - Chris Brown threw three touchdown passes and ran for another, while Jamaal Branch ran for 175 yards and two scores to lead Colgate to a 50-6 rout of Bucknell on Saturday at Andy Kerr Stadium.
Bucknell fell to 4-4 on the season and 2-1 in Patriot League play, while Colgate (8-0, 3-0) extended the nation's longest winning streak to 14 games.
The Raiders' first-team offense scored on all seven of its offensive possessions in handing the Bison their worst loss since a 47-0 defeat against William & Mary on Sept. 21, 1996. Colgate became the first team to score 50 points against Bucknell since Lafayette defeated the Bison 56-14 on Oct. 29, 1994.
Colgate outgained Bucknell 458-188 and remained in a first-place tie in the Patriot League with Lehigh, which defeated Georgetown 45-24 on Saturday.
Colgate sprinted to a 50-0 lead before Blamah Sarnor put the Bison on the board with a 1-yard touchdown run with 3:49 left in the contest. Sarnor led Bucknell with 31 rushing yards on 11 carries. Bucknell was held to 102 rushing yards, more than 150 below their league-leading average.
The Raiders dominated the first half, outgaining Bucknell 347-36. Colgate scored on all six of its first-half possessions, including three TD passes from Brown and a pair of scoring runs from Branch.
Branch, the nation's leading rusher with a 160.1 average coming into the game, scored on a 2-yard run to cap a 14-play, 80-yard drive on Colgate's opening possession. Bison quarterback John Henry Jackson, who made his first career start in place of the injured Daris Wilson, fumbled at the Colgate 47-yard line on Bucknell's opening possession, and 11 plays later fullback Ben Evans crossed the goal line from four yards out. A missed extra point left the score 13-0 after one period.
Less than two minutes into the second quarter, Brown and Luke Graham hooked up on a 44-yard TD pass for a 20-0 lead. Just 51 seconds later, Antwone Porter blocked Ryan Berry's punt through the end zone for a safety.
Brown sandwiched TD passes to John Frieser and J.B. Gerald around a Branch 19-yard scoring run, making it 43-0 at intermission.
Colgate had 21 first downs to just two for the Bison in the first half.
Jackson finished with seven completions in 16 attempts for 86 yards. Albert Marquardt caught four passes for 67 yards. Defensively, Jerome Acy led all players with a career-high 15 tackles, while Kevin Ransome, the league's leading tackler, finished with 13.
The win was the Raiders fourth straight over the Bison. Bucknell returns home for three of its final four games of the season, beginning next Saturday, Nov. 1 against Holy Cross. Colgate visits Lafayette next Saturday.
