LEWISBURG, Pa. - Freshman women's soccer player Shannon Curd (Westtown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) has been named the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 12.
In a 2-0 week for the Bison, Curd had an assist in a critical win over Patriot League opponent Army, and added two goals in a neutral-site game against South Alabama.
Against the Black Knights, Curd came off the bench to provide an assist on junior Meghann Chipko's goal, the fourth of the game for the Bison in a 4-1 victory.
In the South Alabama contest, being played at Florida International, Curd provided some excitement in the closing minutes. The rookie entered the game with the Orange and Blue trailing 2-1. With just 1:15 to go in the contest, Curd found the back of the net for her second career goal, knotting the event 2-2. Just 18 seconds later, with only 57 seconds left in the game, the forward/midfielder took a pass from Chipko and finished it for the game-winner.
For the season, Curd is third on the team in scoring with three goals and one assist for seven points.
Bucknell is 7-3-1 overall. The Bison play Florida International at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, before heading to Holy Cross for a conference game on Saturday, October 18, at 12:00 p.m.
