LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior Kate Ruda (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) has received the August Athlete of the Month for field hockey from local co-sponsors K.I.C.K.S. Marshall Arts for Women and Curves for Women.
The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Thursday, Sept. 5. Sponsored by K.I.C.K.S. Marshall Arts for Women and Curves for Women, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. The other winners for the month of September, as selected by their respective coaches, were senior Jennifer Wrigley in volleyball and sophomore Meghann Chipko for soccer.
Ruda is a third year participant with the Bison and a two-year letter winner. She has started in three games for Bucknell this season and has been a strong leader in the defensive end of the field.
Playing three games in a span of five days, the Bison have seen three one-goal losses with two games going into overtime. The Bison will play host to Patriot League contender Colgate, Saturday, Sept. 7 at noon.
