Bucknell Cross Country At Great American Cross Country Festival

CHAROLETTE, N.C. - The Bucknell University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Great American Cross Country Festival, in Charlotte, N.C., Friday afternoon. The men's team finished 11th out of a total of 25 teams, while the women completed the meet third out of 22 teams.
The men's team were ranked 11th during the meet. Senior Greg Costello, crossing the line at 27:01.0, placed 16th and first for the Bison. Senior Bryan Johnston (27:18.5) placed 31st and junior Nick Mousetis timed in at 28:06.4 for 77th place on the 8K course.
Other runners for the Bison included, senior Eric Furst (96th, 28:29.2), juniors Stephan Schaefer (110th, 28:53.4), Wes Reinhardt (133rd, 29:29.7), and Lou Palma (143rd, 30:08.5).
"The men ran a below average race and were lucky to finish 11th," mentioned head coach Kevin Donner.
The women's team placed third with a total of 110 team points. Claiming seventh place overall, Bison runner Theresa Dennis ran the 5K course in 20:20.5. Following closely behind Dennis, included freshmen Alison Cole (15th, 20:43.1) and Jamie Gow (19th, 20:55.1).
Also competing for Bucknell was Julie Jackaboski placing 35th with a time of 21:25.7, Rachel Tutmaher placing 42nd (21:33.8), Lauren Kinsey (56th, 21:48.2) and Katie Pfeifer (64th, 22:03.3).
"The women ran a respectable race, considering that we are missing two of our top runners [Kayla Halloran and Nicki Piper], and placing a respectable third place." said Donner.
Bucknell will return to action when they host the Gulden Invitational at Bucknell on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Top Three Team Finishers: Men: 1. Northern Arizona, 26; 2. Georgetown, 104; 3. Butler, 108. Women: 1. North Florida, 40; 2. Appalachian State, 91; 3. Bucknell, 110.
