LEWISBURG, Pa.- Shaelan McNally has ripped across the eastern cross country scene like a fall typhoon and continued her ascension at Saturday's YSU Invitational winning second place against a strong field of competition. The conference office acknowledged her impressive performance on Monday awarding the sophomore sensation with her third Patriot League Women's Runner of the Week award of 2025.Â
"Shaelan is obviously having a great season so far after an up-and-down freshman year," said head coach Kevin Donner. "She loves the sport of distance running and is much more consistent with her training and racing than a year ago."
McNally's second place finish occurred due to the first place Youngstown State runner's familiarity with the home course. Her time of 17.44 was still only eight seconds behind the homefield advantage runner and established a new personal best on a 5k course for the Bison distancewoman.Â
The silver finish broke her two-meet streak of victories but McNally still paced the Bison for the third consecutive competition and became the first Bucknell runner since Christine Bendzinski in 2017 to win three PL Women's Runner of the Weeks in a campaign.Â
McNally is 3-for-3 in receiving weekly awards when eligible.
Bucknell resumes action on Oct. 17 at the historic ECAC/IC4A Championships.Â
