LANCASTER, Pa. - The Bucknell men's water polo team dropped a 14-7 decision against the 9th-ranked team in the country, Navy, in the final game of the day at the Southern Division League Games on Saturday, September 21.
The Bison trailed 4-2 after the first period of play, but the Navy defense seemed to put the game out of reach in the second, holding the Orange and Blue scoreless for the entire period, while the Mids offense scored four times. Navy only outscored BU by one the rest of the way, but the damage was done and the deficit was too large to overcome.
Junior Jamie Saettele led Bucknell offensively, scoring four goals. Sophomore James Danforth also had a multiple goal game, tallying twice and assisting on two. Freshman Bradley Roslyn rounded out the goal scoring, registering one score and one assist. Senior Daniel Lonnerdal matched Danforth for the team-high in assists with two, while sophomore Paul Yerkes added one helper.
Sophomore Ernest Martin recorded a season and career-high 12 saves in goal for Bucknell.
The Bison fall to 3-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play. BU takes on Princeton on Sunday, September 22, at 10:00 a.m., before finishing up league play against Johns Hopkins at 2:00 p.m.
