Women's Soccer Awarded With Two All-Tournament MVP'S

ALBANY, N.Y. - Bucknell women's soccer finished the weekend with a 2-0 record at the Governor's Cup Tournament at University at Albany. The Bison won first place in the tournament and had four members of the team named to the All-Tournament team.
Two Bison members were selected as Most Valuable Players for the tournament. Senior Tara Utchel (Heidleberg, Pa./Sewickley) was named Most Valuable Offensive Player, while junior Abbey Seaboyer (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendohowa) was named Defensive MVP for the tournament.
Also named to the All-Tournament team from Bucknell were freshman midfielder Meaghan Ferris (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional) and senior goalkeeper Laurie Purse (Traverse City, Mich./Western Reserve Academy).
For Bucknell, Utchel scored the lone goal during Saturday's match against Sacred Heart. Ferris scored the only goal during the game against Long Island, on Sunday afternoon. Both goals were unassisted. The Bison tallied a total of 30 shots for the weekend.
Purse completed 10 saves at the tournament. She closed the weekend with two shutouts. Seaboyer strongly assisted in defending Bucknell's goal throughout the tournament.
Bucknell finished the weekend with a 5-1 overall record. The Bison return to action Tuesday, Sept. 17 when they travel Philadelphia, Pa. to compete against St. Joseph's University. On Saturday, Sept. 21, Bucknell will play its first league game when the Bison travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to face Patriot League foe Colgate University.
