Bucknell's Laurie Purse Named Player Of The Week For Soccer

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's senior goalkeeper, Laurie Purse (Traverse City, Mich./Western Reserve Academy) was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 16. Purse helped the Bison to a 3-0 record for the week of Sept. 9.
Purse, with the assistance of the team, captured two shutouts for Bucknell. On the week, Purse tallied 10 saves and a .526 save percentage.
Purse, along with teammates Tara Utchel, Abbey Seaboyer and Meaghan Ferris, was named to the All-Tournament team during the Governor's Cup Tournament at the University at Albany.
Another personal highlight this week for Purse included scoring her first collegiate goal for Bucknell during the game against Delaware State on Wednesday. Purse placed the ball in the net only seconds after entering the game as a forward.
Purse has been named Patriot League Player of the Week three times during her career at Bucknell.
Bucknell finished the weekend with a 5-1 overall record. The Bison return to action Tuesday, Sept. 17 when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to compete against St. Joseph's University. On Saturday, Sept. 21, Bucknell will play its first conference game when it travels to Hamilton, N.Y. to face Patriot League foe Colgate University.
