LEWISBURG, Pa. - Both the Bucknell University men's and women's swimming & diving squads have been named as Academic All-American team by the Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
For a team to qualify as a CSCAA Academic All-American, it must have a team grade point of average of at least 2.80 for the semester. CSCAA Academic All-Americans are broken into three categories: commendable (2.80-2.99), excellent (3.00-3.24) and superior (3.25 and above).
Out of all the women's teams that qualified as Academic All-American status, the Bison women's team posted the 38th-highest grade point average with a spring semester GPA of 3.23 to garner "excellent" Academic All-America standing. Bucknell's men's team finished 28th with a 2.92 GPA for "commendable" distinction.
Bucknell's women's team finished the 2001-02 season with a 5-2 record and came in second at the Patriot League Championships. The men's squad went 3-3 for the year and took fourth at the league meet.
