LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell football team will hold its final intrasquad scrimmage of the 2002 preseason Friday evening at 7 p.m. at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The scrimmage is free and open to the public.
Just eight days before the season opener at Duquesne, the Bison will work on all game situations in an officiated scrimmage. Under game conditions, fans will have a chance to view new offensive coordinator Kurt Beathard's exciting attack square off against Bucknell's vaunted defensive unit.
Established and future stars will be on display. Quarterback Todd Wenrich and receivers Jim Horan and Albert Marquardt will lead the offense, while a rebuilt offensive line will be tested against a defense that ranked fifth nationally in yards allowed last season. All-America noseguard Adam Lord leads an experienced and physical defensive line, which is backed by veteran linebackers Juan Morales, Joe Massey and Stephane Pluviose. Junior corner Jerome Acy leads a young but athletic secondary.
Bucknell and Duquesne officially kick off the 2002 season Sept. 7 in Pittsburgh.
