LEWISBURG, Pa. - Meghan Lynch has been named as the Bucknell University women's soccer program's first full-time assistant, Bison head coach Chrissy Findlay has announced.
Lynch has served as a graduate assistant for the Bison in each of the past two seasons, and helped coach the Bison to the Patriot League Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament last fall. She earned her master's degree in education this spring.
"Meghan has been an integral part to our success," remarked Findlay. "Not only is she a fine coach, but she is also a very good role model and mentor for the players. I am proud to have her as my assistant."
In addition to her coaching duties at Bucknell over the past two seasons, Lynch has been involved with the Susquehanna Valley Soccer Club, as well numerous other camps and clinics in the Central Pennsylvania area.
"Meghan's new responsibilities will exceed the realm of coaching the goalkeepers and general office work," noted Findlay. "She has a keen eye for the game and after two years, she is ready to take a step forward in her coaching career."
As a standout goalkeeper and four-year letterwinner at Boston University, Lynch brings a wealth of college soccer experience to the Bison sidelines. While at Boston University, she was a team captain her senior year and earned the Terrier Award for the most valuable team player. During both her junior and senior years, Lynch was named to the America East All-Academic Team. She was also an America East Honorable Mention selection.
During her four years as a Terrier, Lynch was involved with the U-16 Spirit of Massachusetts team. She worked as both an assistant and as a goalkeeper coach. She has gained additional coaching experience through her work with the Terrier Training Soccer Camp and the Terrier Goalkeeping Clinic.
In the May of 2001, Lynch graduated from Boson University's School of Education with a Bachelor's Degree in Human Movement. She is single and resides in Lewisburg.
The Bison women's soccer team kicks off its 2002 season on Aug. 31, when it hosts Howard University in a 1 p.m. showdown.
