Creamer, Quimby and Franks Named To Patriot League All-Tournament Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior guard Molly Creamer (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) was named the Patriot League Tournament Most Valuable Player, and was joined by teammates Vicki Quimby (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) and Kate Franks (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) on the 2002 Patriot League All-Tournament Team. The team was announced at the conclusion of the Patriot League championship game at Holy Cross on Wednesday, March 6.
Creamer was tabbed the MVP of the tournament on the heels of her second-straight Patriot League Player of the Year award. Through three games in the playoffs, the 5-10 guard averaged 21.0 points per game, 7.7 assists per game, 5.0 rebounds per game and 2.7 steals per game. She shot 47.6% from the floor and missed only one free throw in 21 attempts for a 95.2% clip from the line. The floor general set four Patriot League championship game records, including points in the finals with 22, assists in the final game with 11, and free throws made and attempted in the title tilt with 11. This is Creamer's second time on PL all-tournament squad.
A senior tri-captain, Quimby makes her first Patriot League All-Tournament Team after an impressive run through the championship tournament. The first player in Patriot League history to earn a spot on either the first or second all-league team all four years, Quimby averaged 17.7 points per game over the three games, shooting a sizzling 70.6% from the field. Against Army in the semi-final round, the 6-0 forward pulled down her 893rd career rebound, becoming Bucknell's all-time leader on the glass.
Franks is also making her first appearance on the All-Tournament team. The junior was solid throughout the tournament, averaging 16.0 points per game, 6.0 assists per game, 5.7 rebounds per game and 3.3 steals per game. The 5-10 guard was on fire from downtown, connecting on 56.2% (9-of-16) of her shots from three-point territory, including a 5-for-8 showing in the championship tilt against Holy Cross. Over half of her total field goals in the tournament were treys, as she went 16-for-30 (53.3%) from the field in the three games. In the second round game against Army, Franks set a career-high for assists with eight helpers in the contest.
As a team, the second-seeded Bison brought home the school's first-ever Patriot League title with an 88-74 upset victory at top-seeded Holy Cross. Bucknell set a Patriot League tournament record for field goal percentage (56.3%, 89-for-158) and points scored (243) throughout the course of the championship.
At 21-9, the Orange and Blue will be appearing in their first-ever NCAA Tournament. Site and opponent is still to be determined.
