Bucknell's McFarland Wins Hammer Throw at Susquehanna Invitational

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Freshman Angela McFarland won the hammer throw, as Bucknell turned in a day of impressive individual performances at the Susquehanna Invitational this afternoon.
With many of the team's top athletes competing at the Raleigh Relays at NC State, the Bison came away with eight top-three finishes on the afternoon. There was no team scoring at the invitational, which consisted primarily of Division II and III schools.
McFarland beat out 15 other competitors in the hammer with a heave of 133'5". In the men's hammer competition, freshman thrower August Siciliano finished second with a toss of 141'6". Siciliano also came in third in the discus with a 132'8" effort.
Senior Shannon Maher and sophomore Stephen Schaefer both notched a second-place finish in their respective events. Maher was the event runner-up in the high jump (5'2") and Schaefer came in second in the 5,000m run with a time of 15:31.14.
Finishing third were freshman Elizabeth Pendelton, sophomore Abigail Bouzan-Kaloustian and junior Darrell Perry. Pendelton threw the discus 122'2", and Bouzan-Kaloustian tied her personal best by clearing 9'6" in the pole vault. Perry completed the 400m hurdles in a time of 57.90.
Bucknell will continue its season on April 5-6 at the Colonial Relays, hosted by the College of William & Mary.
