Bucknell Track Squads Compete at ECAC/IC4A Championships

BOSTON - Senior Stephanie Bango, freshman Rehana Lanewala, senior LaTonya McSwain and senior Kelly McConnell smashed the school record and placed sixth in the distance medley relay at the ECAC/IC4A Championships this afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center to highlight a solid overall showing from the Bucknell University men's and women's indoor track & field teams.
Bango, Lanewala, McSwain and McConnell raced to a time of 11:35.10, a new Bucknell record by a whopping 15 seconds. The foursome's time also met the provisional standard for the NCAA Championships.
Bango also competed in the final of the 800m run after qualifying for the final yesterday. She placed eighth in the event in 2:21.11.
In the men's IC4A Championships, junior Greg Costello was the lone Bison to compete this afternoon. Costello finished ninth in the final of the 3,000m run in 8:21.32. In the preliminaries yesterday, Costello finished third in his heat in 8:23.05.
Also competing in the preliminary events yesterday were freshman Ryan Newberger along with the distance medley and 3,200m relay teams. Newberger finished 24th in the 200m dash in 22.51, while the DMR squad took 12th in 10:03.83. The 4x800m team came in 14th in a season-best 7:41.54 clocking.
