Bison Men's Tennis Earns 6-1 Win at St. Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis team improved to 5-1 this spring with a convincing 6-1 win at St. Joseph's on Sunday, March 24. The Bison lost at only one singles position, while claiming two of the three doubles bouts for the doubles point.
Senior Alex Davydov picked up his fourth-straight win in singles action with a challenging 6-3, 7-6 (3) decision over Shawn Farrokh at the No. 1 spot. Davydov teamed up with freshman Joe Menezes at No. 3 doubles to battle out a 9-8 (7-4) victory.
In addition to Davydov, freshmen Leland Tien and Gerald DiChiara were double winners for the Orange and Blue. Tien defeated Van Homer Pangilinan, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 3 singles, while DiChiara earned a 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 decision against Robert Cappelli at No. 5 singles. The duo teamed up at No. 2 doubles for an 8-2 victory over the Hawks' Farrokh and Damon Dennin.
Senior Scott Allen won his fifth consecutive singles match, picking up a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Pat Mulvaney at the No. 6 bout. Allen and junior Todd Jacobs teamed up at No. 1 doubles to drop an 8-4 loss to Francisco Velazquez and Pangilinan. Jacobs was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Dennin at the No. 4 singles spot.
Bucknell is in action again on Tuesday, March 26, when it hosts West Chester for a 3:30 p.m. match.
