Women's Golf Struggles in First Round of Northern Illinois Tourney

TAMPA, Fla. - Bucknell's women's golf team struggled in its first round of the spring, collecting a team score of 365 in the opening round of the Northern Illinois Snowbird Intercollegiate Thursday afternoon.
At the par-72 Pebble Creek Country Club, Bucknell sits in 22nd place among 22 teams heading into Friday's final round. Arkansas State shot a first-round 305 to take a two-stroke lead over Southern Miss. Southern Illiniois (312), Notre Dame (313) and Toledo (314) round out the top five. Just in front of Bucknell is Creighton, which compiled a 361 on Thursday.
Bucknell's low round was an 89 carded by Jess Hetrich. Jaime Hays shot 90, followed by Hilary Mainka (92), Bridget O'Mara (94) and Caitlin Sullivan (97).
Arkansas State's Shellie Wenzel fired a one-under 71 to assume a two-shot edge over Toledo's Breanne Hall in the individual standings.
