LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell freshman Jackie Feinthel has received the Subway Athlete of the Month Award for the month of December in swimming & diving.
The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Monday, Feb. 4. Sponsored by Lewisburg Subway, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. The other winners for the month of December, as selected by their respective coaches, were senior Monique LeBlanc in basketball and senior Andrea Nyce in track & field.
Feinthel has helped Bucknell to a 5-2 record, and a 4-2 mark in the Patriot League. She has enjoyed an impressive rookie season for the Bison, and has broken into the school's all-time top-10 list in five different events. She set the Bucknell's Freas-Rooke Pool record in the 1,000 free on Jan. 19 with a time of 10:30.19, which also held up as the Bucknell school record. In addition, Feinthel is ranked on the school's all-time charts in the 500 free (seventh, 5:10.85), 1,650 free (eighth, 17:53.16), 200 fly (fifth, 2:10.14) and the 400 IM (ninth, 4:39.68).
Bucknell will rest this weekend in preparation for the Patriot League Championships, which will be held at Navy on Feb. 14-16.
