LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior guard Molly Creamer (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) is among the nation's leaders in average points and assists per game, while the Bison team is in the top-50 in free throw percentage and scoring offense. The first 2002-03 NCAA Women's Basketball statistics leaders were released on Tuesday, December 10.
Creamer, who leads the team and the Patriot League in scoring at 24.7 ppg, is ranked seventh in the nation with her scoring average. The co-captain has tallied 173 points through seven games played this season. Creamer opened the season with a 28-point performance against 14th-ranked Penn State, eclipsing 1,800 career points in the process. She has already recorded three 30-point games this season, and has tied the school record for 20-point games in a career with 46. The 5-10 guard, who needs only 24 points to reach 1,900 in her career, was named the Patriot League Player of the Week the first two weeks of the season.
In addition to her scoring ranking, Creamer is 22nd in the country in assists per game with 6.4. She also leads the conference in the helper category, handing out a season-high 11 assists against Drexel on November 29.
As a team, Bucknell is shooting 82.3% (135-164) from the foul line, the second-best average in the nation from the charity stripe. The Bison, who set a school record with a team free throw percentage of 76.0% last year, have only had two games this season shooting lower than 80.0% from the line. The Orange and Blue also fall in at 44th in the country with a scoring average of 74.9 points per game.
Bucknell, 3-4, is in the midst of a 13-day layoff from competition as it prepares to face La Salle on Friday, December 21, at 1:00 p.m. The Bison then remain on the road for the holidays, taking on Alabama in the opening round of the St. Peter's Holiday Classic at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 29.
