Bucknell's Swimming and Diving Hosts First Official Meet In Kinney Natatorium

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell University held the first annual Sprint Invitational in the Arthur J. Kinney Natatorium on Saturday. This marks the first official event in the new facility. The Bison women captured second place, only 7.5 points behind West Chester University. The men grabbed third place, behind West Chester and Penn State.
In the women's events, the Bison were victorious in numerous events. Highlighting the day for the Bison with first place finishes were Jamie Flick, with a time of 31.39 in the 50 breast, Meghan Freese, capturing 24.56 in the 50 free, and Sarah Petcavage, with a score of 218.80 in the 3-meter diving competion.
In the women's 100 IM, Darby Golino (1:02.18) and Lectie Altman (1:02.46) placed third and fourth, respectively. Altman captured second in the 100 backstroke and now stands fifth on the All-Time chart with a time of 58.84. Freese placed third in the 100 free and assisted the 400 medley relay team to a second place victory. Freese, along with teammates, Altman, Flick and Mary Krakowski placed themselves eight on the All-Time charts in the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:00.71.
Daniela Faas (4:41.85), Jackie Feinthel (4:44.41) and Flick (4:46.61) placed second, third and fourth in the 400 IM for Bucknell. Bucknell also gained points with a third place finish by Flick and fourth, Vanessa Scaringi, in the 100 breast. Petcavage also recorded second place in the 1-meter diving session.
On the men's side of competition, Bison leaders included, Michael Guskey, who placed first in the 50 breast (27.12) and Adam Freeman, who captured first place in both the 1-meter (266.8) and 3- meter (244.20) diving competitions.
Mark Kretzer placed fifth in the 50 fly event with a time of 23.99. Assisting Guskey with points in the 50 breast was Stelio Saffos(27.85) with a fifth place finish. Kretzer also captured fifth place in the 100 fly and sixth in the 50 back. Guskey captured third for he Bison in the 100 breast, with a time of 1:00.48, for Bucknell. Jack Sheehan recorded fifth place in the 400 IM, while recording a time of 4:24.21.
The Bison will start Patriot League competition against American and Navy on Saturday, Nov. 16 in Arthur J. Kinney Natatorium.
