WASHINGTON, D.C. - Lauren Galbally's goal with 8:39 remaining in regulation snapped a scoreless deadlock and lifted Georgetown to a 1-0 victory over Bucknell in the regular season finales for both teams. The Bison finish the regular season with a 7-11 record and now prepare for Friday's Patriot League Tournament showdown with 19th-ranked Lafayette.
Bison goaltender Sonja Wettergreen was excellent, making nine saves in 70 minutes of action. The Hoyas final solved her when Galbally finished a penalty corner courtesy of assists from Shelby Samperton and Beth Gagnon.
Georgetown outshot Bucknell 18-6, with Kirsten Nilsen logging half of the Bison's shot total.
Bucknell will play Lafayette at noon on Friday in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals. It is the Bison's first tourney appearance since 2000, when they advanced to the conference championship game for the second straight year.
Georgetown improved to 9-8 with the victory.
