Bucknell Women's Soccer Drops 2-0 In Final Game Against Navy

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's women's soccer team completed the 2002 season when they dropped a 2-0 decision to Navy, Saturday afternoon. The Bison close the season 6-9-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the Patriot League.
The Orange and Blue started the afternoon with a ceremony celebrating six seniors. Kate Cramer, Emily Keber, Melissa Lawson, Laurie Purse, Lauren Schwarz and Tara Utchel were recognized.
The game was a battle of the defenses with both teams moving the ball vigorously around the field. The Midshipmen captured their first goal in the fourth minute of play. Navy's Stacy Finley snuck the ball in the outside right corner, with the assistance of Kara Hardebeck, to produce a 1-0 lead. The Midshipmen captured their second goal of the game when Amelia Shevel placed the ball in the net at 38:28 with the help of Nadia Sheikh.
The Bison marked 10 shots, while the Midshipmen captured seven. Keber tallied team-high two shots for the afternoon for Bucknell. During the 90 minutes of play, Purse produced three saves in goal for the Bison.
Bucknell finished the season 6-9-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the Patriot League.
