Bucknell's Kate Ruda Named to STX/NFHCA All-Region Team

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior defender Kate Ruda (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood H.S.) was named to the STX/NFCHA All-Mideast Region Second Team, it was announced Monday by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
Ruda, a First Team All-Patriot League selection, was one of seven Patriot League players named to the 32-person all-region team. Ruda enjoyed a terrific season in 2002 and was one of the conference's elite defenders. She led the Bison in both tackles and interceptions, while recording four defensive goal line saves over the course of the season.
The all-league and all-region selections marked Ruda's first career postseason honors.
Bucknell finished the 2002 campaign with a 7-12 record (3-3 Patriot League). The Bison lost to eventual champion Lafayette in the Patriot League Tournament semifinals.
