LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the first time in her career, Bucknell sophomore defender Corin Inderbitzin-Brooks (Springfield, Va./Annandale H.S.) has been named the Patriot League Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Inderbitzin-Brooks was rock-solid on the back line as the Bison turned in a 2-0 week. Bucknell defeated Saint Francis (Pa.) 4-2 on Wednesday for its first road win of the season, then blanked Patriot League rival Lehigh 2-0 on Saturday in Lewisburg.
She registered seven interceptions against Saint Francis and six interceptions and seven positive tackles in the shutout win over Lehigh. For the week, she totaled 13 interceptions and seven tackles. The shutout of the Mountain Hawks was Bucknell's second of the season.
The victory over Lehigh was a crucial one in the Patriot League race, as the Bison improved to 2-2 (5-6 overall) and moved back into a top-four position in the conference standings. The top four teams advance to the postseason league tournament.
Bucknell returns to action this Tuesday at sixth-ranked Penn State. Game time is 7 p.m.
