LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis team improved to 4-3 in dual meet action with a 7-0 win over visiting Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, October 5. It is the second straight dual meet victory for the Bison.
The duo of sophomores Nick Denefrio and Joe Menezes opened doubles play on a strong note, defeating Alex Levy and Jimmy Yen, 8-0, at number one. Senior Todd Jacobs and sophomore Leland Tien followed suit with an 8-2 defeat of Andrew Mayer and Dan Lindenberg at number two, before sophomore Gerald DiChiara teamed up with freshman Asher Salam to beat Alex Chester and Bryan Pilkington, 8-2, at the third doubles flight.
In singles action, Tien picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at number one over Levy. At the second flight Denefrio fought hard to beat Chester in two sets, winning 7-5, 6-1. Menezes dropped just three games to Mayer at the third flight, winning 6-2, 6-1, while Jacobs lost just two games to Lindenberg at number four, coming out on top of a 6-1, 6-1 decision. Salam and DiChiara both won 6-0, 6-0, defeating Pilkington and Yen, respectively, at number five and number six.
Bucknell improves to 4-3 overall and will be in action next on Saturday and Sunday, October 12-13, at the Patriot League Flighted Tournament at Lehigh. Franklin & Marshall falls to 2-1.
