GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell women's golf team matched its highest finish ever at the ECAC Championship, placing fifth in a 14-team field at the Links of Gettysburg over the weekend. Rain played havoc with the event, and play had to be shortened to 27 holes.
After shooting an opening-round score of 342, Bucknell came back with a solid 165 in the nine-hole final round to slide into fifth place. The Bison also took fifth last season at the Bucknell G.C. Senior Molly Campbell was Bucknell's top finisher, placing 15th overall with a 27-hole composite of 124 (82-42).
Jess Hetrich and Jaime Hays both shot 83-45 and tied for 24th place. Amy Jones and Kelly Evans, the two high scorers in the opening round, bounced back to card matching 40s to lead the team on Sunday. Jones tied for 28th at 129 and Evans tied for 39th at 133.
Princeton came from three strokes down to edge Brown by one shot for the team title. The Tigers shot 316-151, while Brown shot 313-155. Boston College (487) and St. John's (503) also placed ahead of the Bison.
Bucknell's final fall tournament comes in two weeks at the Georgetown Invitational, Oct. 25-26, in Washington, D.C.
